Shoyeido brand incense – If you've been buying cheap incense you're in for a treat! Other than our house brand we are only carrying the Shoyeido incense line because of the quality. Since this company uses only natural materials the incense smoke isn't as irritating and even asthmatics like me can enjoy these wonderful scents. The sticks are long-burning and don't have a center stick so that you can burn as little or as much as you like. Forget the "hand-dipped" incense which all smells the same, (like the carrier oils in the fragrance), and enjoy the real thing!
If you come into the shop you'll most likely smell one of 3 varieties of the incense, since they're my favorites. First is Evening Zen, a long-lasting stick, 2nd the gourmet line Frankincense and 3rd, Moss Garden from the Daily Series.
This is not the full line of all the Shoyeido Incense. If you have a favorite, let me know. We occasionally get specials & close-outs as well that are not advertised on the website.
We usually have samples as well, that we'll gladly include with a purchase, so you can try this lovely stuff!

We fire ours up in the shop regularly and there's nothing better for heating various chips, blends and kneaded incense. It's a great addition to a traveling kit, too, since it cools down quickly and can actually be run in the dishwasher! | Charcoal – This is the real prize of this line as far as I'm concerned. While this charcoal is a little trickier to light than the usual ritual blocks (see photo essay), it has no chemicals in it that's harmful to the lungs! It comes in two sizes and has a light delicate fragrance of its own. |

$20.00 - Ume-gaka – Fragrant Plum - Paper box, 1.7 oz - Traditionally used for the Japanese Tea Ceremony, this ancient form of incense is blended, kneaded, and buried underground in earthenware jars, and left to mature for three to five years. These incense "balls" are characterized by a sweet, creamy scent. They are not ignited by flame, but heated using charcoal or a compact wood chip heater. They can also be tucked into a purse or pocket or even a fragrance locket for enjoyment.

Premium Incense – These have to be smelled to be believed. I would never have thought I would be so entranced by an incense! Yes, the prices are high on this line and we don't carry very many of these at a time, but these are a wonderful gift to yourself, to a special friend or teacher or for a very special occasion. These come in elegant silk-covered boxes and are wrapped in a paper designed by one of Japan's National Treasures.
Shoyeido's Premium Incense is made with centuries-old recipes. Gentle Smile (Misho) and the above contain a high percentage of agarwood/aloeswood. These fragrances are a treat for incense lovers.
